Love and Logic Parenting Classes in Jefferson and Lewis Counties

Northern Regional Center for Independent Living (NRCIL) is now offering Love and Logic parenting classes to parents, grandparents, and foster parents. Love and Logic is a nationally recognized curriculum that puts the fun back into parenting.

Our goal is to raise responsible kids with control that is shared with ownership of a problem, with an opportunity to think, letting empathy and consequences do the teaching. Adults learn to set limits without anger, lectures, threats or repeated warnings. When children cause problems, adults hand these problems back in loving ways. Adults hold the child accountable for solving problems in a way that does not make problems for others. Children are offered choices with limits. Adults use enforceable statements and provide delays/extended consequences.

Parents want to enjoy their kids, have fun with them, and enjoy a less stressful family life. The approach to raising kids that provides loving support from parents while at the same time expecting kids to be respectful and responsible is parenting with love and logic. This philosophy was founded by Jim Fay and Foster W. Cline, MD., and based on the experience of a combined total of over seventy-five years working with and raising kids.

NRCIL is flexible with the times and locations that these classes are offered. The classes are held for 2 ½ hours for 4 weeks and are free and confidential. Please join us as we put the fun back into parenting. Call 376-8696 in Lewis County or 785-8703 in Jefferson for more information on scheduling and location.
