Assembly Committees
Committee on Energy
Has jurisdiction over legislation relating to energy availability and sources, policy and planning, conservation, and electric, gas, and steam rate-making in New York State. The Committee considers legislation that amends Energy Law, Public Service Law, Public Authorities Law, Economic Development Law, and Rural Electric Cooperative Law.
Committee on Rules
Committee on Ways and Means
This committee’s responsibility is to analyze the proposed state budget and assess the ways in which the budgets priorities will be implemented. It also oversees any legislation that will impact state/local spending or revenue.
Committee on Agriculture
Responsible for legislation and oversight that relates to the Agriculture and Markets Law, and helping to craft the Department’s budget. The Committee works with farmers and their representatives to develop policies and programs to promote the State’s agricultural products, support the growth of agricultural, food and beverage businesses, preserve our State’s farmland resources and protect the welfare of our companion animals.
Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions
has jurisdiction over the laws concerning private, not-for-profit, and public corporations in New York State. Much of the committee’s focus is on the organizational framework and activities of the state’s public corporations, largely referred to as public authorities.
Committee on Insurance
The Committee works to provide that the NYS Insurance law contains appropriate protections to ensure that companies doing business in this State are healthy and competitive, most importantly, that policyholders are always afforded essential consumer protections. It examines a wide range of topics in numerous categories of insurance including health, life, property and casualty, auto and title.
